Lewis Hamilton Takes Responsibility for Strategic Mistake at Singapore Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton admitted to making a strategic error during the Singapore Grand Prix, which resulted in a sixth-place finish. In the race's final stages, he was overtaken by teammates and competitors after opting not to pit under a Virtual Safety Car (VSC) when instructed by his team.
Despite being advised to pit, Hamilton chose to remain on track, believing he could maintain his position. This decision ultimately cost him valuable points as he struggled with tire degradation in the closing laps. He expressed regret for the outcome, stating that he takes full responsibility for the choices made during the race.
Team principal Fred Vasseur noted that Hamilton's decision to miss the pit entry was unfortunate, as it likely cost him a podium finish. Hamilton's comments were later relayed by Ferrari, as he avoided media interviews due to feeling unwell.
