Lewis Uvwo Commits to Providence Over Top Programs
Lewis Uvwo, a five-star center and the top player in the 2027 recruiting class, has committed to Providence, selecting the Friars over Baylor, Kentucky, and Cal. His decision was announced on CBS Sports HQ on Wednesday.
Uvwo, who plays for Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is regarded as the best big man in his class. His commitment is a notable achievement for Providence coach Bryan Hodgson, who is in his first season leading the team. Uvwo's official visit to Providence followed trips to other schools, and he is only the third five-star recruit to join the Friars in the 247Sports era.
Coach Hodgson's reputation as a winner and his vision for the program played a crucial role in Uvwo's decision. He is recognized for his exceptional physical attributes, including a height of 6-foot-10 and a wingspan of nearly 7-foot-6, along with his athleticism and defensive skills. Uvwo's commitment positions Providence as a competitive force in both the Big East and nationally.
