Liam Lawson Achieves Seventh Place in Surprise Red Bull Return

Liam Lawson made a surprising return to Red Bull during the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, finishing in seventh place after being drafted in to replace the injured Isack Hadjar.

Despite limited preparation in the RB22, Lawson qualified eighth, closely trailing Max Verstappen. Following Verstappen's crash on the opening lap, Lawson became Red Bull's sole representative and managed to secure a seventh-place finish, finishing behind the McLarens, Mercedes, and Ferraris.

Team principal Laurent Mekies noted the challenges of switching teams under the 2026 regulations but commended Lawson for maximizing the available result. While this performance does not finalize the 2027 line-up discussions for Red Bull, it strengthens Lawson's position as a capable reserve driver who can deliver results without causing disruptions.
