
Lightning Strike Claims Life of Soccer Player in Thailand
A tragic incident occurred during a soccer match in Thailand, where player Safwan Awae, 24, was killed and 12 others were injured due to a lightning strike. The event took place at the Santiphap Stadium in Narathiwat province during the Golok Cup regional tournament.
The match was interrupted by a monsoon storm, leading to players being caught in heavy rain. Video footage captured the moment lightning struck near the players, resulting in a flash of flames and smoke. Awae was struck and fell to the ground, prompting spectators to attempt to revive him.
Emergency services arrived to provide medical assistance, but Awae was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Among the injured was 22-year-old Malaysian footballer Alif Ezzahan Zulkifli, who suffered burns. FC Yala, Awae's team, expressed their condolences on social media, highlighting the loss of their new player.
