After the World Cup final on July 19, Messi took a short vacation before rejoining Inter Miami's training in Fort Lauderdale on July 26. He participated in a few training sessions before being included in the matchday squad against the Columbus Crew on August 1. Messi entered the game as a substitute in the 53rd minute, contributing four shots, although the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the post-match press conference, Hoyos acknowledged the commitment of his players, particularly highlighting Messi and Rodrigo De Paul for their quick return to the team.
