Lions' Backup Running Backs to Operate as a Two-Man Committee

The Detroit Lions have Jahmyr Gibbs as their starting running back, who is currently the highest-paid in the NFL. Behind him, the team has Sione Vaki and Jacob Saylors, both of whom have limited experience in the league.

Vaki has recorded seven carries for 18 yards, while Saylors has two carries for 11 yards in his NFL career. Despite concerns about depth at the position, head coach Dan Campbell expressed confidence in utilizing a committee approach with Vaki and Saylors when Gibbs needs a break.

Campbell noted that both players bring value to the team, particularly on special teams, and he anticipates Vaki taking on more responsibilities as a runner and pass protector. Following the trade of David Montgomery to Houston, the Lions plan to increase Gibbs' workload, but Vaki and Saylors are expected to see more action as well.
