Lions GM Brad Holmes Confirms Commitment to Draft Class Members

The Detroit Lions' General Manager Brad Holmes has reiterated his intention to keep Sam LaPorta and Brian Branch as part of the team's long-term plans. Currently, they are among the four remaining members of the Lions' 2023 draft class still with the team, alongside Jack Campbell and Jahmyr Gibbs.

Recently, Campbell signed a four-year contract extension worth $81 million, while Gibbs secured a three-year extension valued at $67.5 million. The Lions are actively negotiating contracts for LaPorta and Branch, with Holmes expressing a strong desire to retain them.

Both LaPorta and Branch faced injuries that impacted their 2025 seasons, with Branch currently on the reserve/PUP list and expected to miss at least the first four games. LaPorta has been cleared for training camp. Since taking over in 2021, Holmes has successfully signed nine draft picks to multi-year extensions, reflecting the team's significant investment in player contracts.
