Lions Sign Running Back Raheem Blackshear
The Detroit Lions have added running back Raheem Blackshear to their roster while they anticipate Jahmyr Gibbs' return to practice.
According to the NFL's daily transaction report, Blackshear was signed following a tryout. In a related move, wide receiver Lawrence Keys was waived due to an injury designation.
Blackshear previously played 41 games for the Carolina Panthers from 2022 to 2024, although he did not participate in any regular season games last year. During his time with the Panthers, he recorded 52 carries for 203 yards and three touchdowns, also serving as a returner.
On the same day, the Lions evaluated other running backs, including Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Hassan Haskins, and Kylin James.
