LIV Golf Faces Player Exodus Amid Bankruptcy
LIV Golf has declared bankruptcy, prompting several players to leave the tour rather than participate in a potentially less lucrative LIV 2.0. This situation has led to a significant player exodus, with Jon Rahm, Joaquin Niemann, and Sergio Garcia among those departing.
The PGA Tour and DP World Tour are now faced with the challenge of integrating these players, who are returning amid frustrations from existing members regarding their unpunished status. The situation has escalated as more players express their motivations for leaving LIV Golf for financial reasons.
Gary Player, when LIV Golf was launched, acknowledged the financial incentives for players but emphasized that they cannot participate in both tours simultaneously. As the PGA Tour maintains its stance, CEO Brian Rolapp confirmed that players like Rahm will have to serve a one-year suspension before returning.
