LIV Golf Secures Lead Investor for Future Seasons
LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil revealed on Wednesday that the league has secured a lead investor, enabling it to move forward without reliance on Saudi funding. This agreement also allows players to become major equity holders in the organization.
While the identity of the investor remains undisclosed, O'Neil mentioned that the agreement has received approval from LIV's board. He noted that the league is attracting interest from over a dozen potential minority investors as it seeks to stabilize its operations.
Upcoming events include the LIV Golf New York tournament at Trump Bedminster, with the Indianapolis tournament scheduled for August 20-23. The future of the season-ending team championship in Michigan is uncertain due to delays in course preparations. LIV Golf, which began in 2022 with Saudi financial backing, has faced challenges after the Public Investment Fund announced it would cease funding after the 2026 season.
