LIV Golf Seeks New Investment Amid Uncertainty
LIV Golf is attempting to secure its future following a series of setbacks, including the loss of financial backing from Saudi Arabia. The league's CEO, Scott O’Neil, stated that a new lead investor has been identified, which he claims will support the tour through 2030, although specifics about the investment remain undisclosed.
O'Neil mentioned that LIV's players would become majority equity shareholders and regain their Name Image and Likeness rights. However, skepticism surrounds these offers, as many players initially joined LIV for financial incentives rather than loyalty to the league.
Reports indicate that LIV is also pursuing a loan from private equity firm BC Partners, raising questions about the viability of O'Neil's optimistic projections. Plans for the tour include hosting only ten events per season, split between the U.S. and international locations, but uncertainty looms over the upcoming Team Championship event, which has a significant prize purse.
