Liverpool Charity Seeks Families of Men Honored on AIDS Memorial Quilt

A charity in Liverpool is attempting to connect with the families of five men who passed away in the 1990s due to HIV-related complications. These individuals are commemorated on a memorial quilt crafted 25 years ago.

The charity, Sahir, has highlighted the names of Gary Crabtree, John McNeight, and Gerard 'Gerry' Murphy, who died at the age of 25 on March 29, 1993. The other two men, David Robert Brewer, known as 'Bopper', and Eddie Boyne, who died in 1999, also have ties to Liverpool.

So far, two families have responded to the appeal, including Cathy, the sister of Eddie Boyne. Simon Harris, the chief executive of Sahir, emphasized the personal significance of the quilts, stating that they represent the lives and stories of those honored, rather than mere statistics. The charity plans to involve relatives and friends in its World AIDS Day events on December 1.
