Liverpool Community Centre Faces Uncertain Future After Funding Loss

The Liverpool 6 Community Association, located on Queens Road in Everton, is facing challenges after losing its primary funding source from The National Lottery Community Fund. This community group, which provides essential services such as a youth club, food bank, and school uniform scheme, is now uncertain about its future.

In response to the funding loss, the association has initiated an online campaign to raise £6,000 to cover immediate operational costs. Chief executive Shirley Marshall indicated that while volunteers may keep core services running, outreach projects for residents in sheltered accommodation would need to cease without additional funding. The potential job loss of nine staff members looms as their notice period approaches its end in October.

Local singer-songwriter Jamie Webster has shown support for the community group, emphasizing its significance to the area. Marshall highlighted the importance of activities for older residents, noting that for some, staff members are their only social contact during the month.
