Liverpool Honors Former Women's Team Manager Matt Beard with Memorials

Liverpool Football Club has unveiled permanent memorials outside Anfield and at their training ground to honor former women's team manager Matt Beard, who passed away on September 20, 2025, at the age of 47.

Beard managed the team from 2012 to 2015 and again from 2021 until his death, leading Liverpool to consecutive Women's Super League titles in 2013 and 2014, and securing promotion back to the WSL in 2022 by winning the FA Women's Championship title. He was recognized as WSL manager of the season twice and was inducted into the WSL Hall of Fame earlier this year.

A private ceremony was held at the Melwood training ground, attended by players, staff, and Beard's family, where a memorial garden was unveiled. Additionally, a commemorative tree was planted on 97 Avenue outside Anfield Stadium. Liverpool's upcoming home match against Fulham will support the Together Against Suicide initiative, aimed at raising awareness for suicide prevention.
