Liverpool Signs Teen Goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans for Up to £30m

Liverpool has finalized the acquisition of 18-year-old goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Belgian club Genk, with the total deal potentially valued at up to £30 million, including add-ons. Brughmans is set to join Liverpool for the 2027-28 season.

The young goalkeeper has signed a six-year contract and will continue to play on loan at Genk for the remainder of this season. Brughmans, who stands at 6 feet 7 inches, has been a regular starter for Genk, participating in all four of their matches this season and representing Belgium at youth levels.

This transfer was facilitated by Liverpool's global talent department, led by Matt Newberry, which has previously signed several promising players, including Mor Talla N'diaye and Ifeanyi Ndukwe earlier this year. Liverpool's current goalkeeping roster includes Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman, and Vitezslav Jaros, but with Alisson's contract ending next summer and Mamardashvili's future uncertain, Brughmans will provide an option starting in the summer of 2027.
