Local Football Coach Hospitalized After Alleged Assault

Tim Bongetti, the coach of Eltham Football Club, is currently in stable condition at Royal Melbourne Hospital after being allegedly assaulted during a local football match on Sunday.

The incident took place while Bongetti was watching a senior match between Diamond Creek and Greensborough at Preston City Oval. He was reportedly knocked unconscious and required ambulance transport to the hospital.

Eltham Football Club confirmed that Bongetti is responsive and surrounded by family. The Northern Football Netball League is investigating the incident, emphasizing its opposition to violence. Police have also been involved, confirming that a 37-year-old man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and investigations are ongoing.
