Local Surfers Eliminated Early at Tahiti Pro
In the opening round of the Tahiti Pro held at Teahupo’o, local surfers Vahine Fierro and Tya Zebrowski faced tough conditions that led to their early elimination from the competition.
Fierro, a past champion, initially showcased her skills with a notable wave scoring 5.33 points but failed to secure a backup score, ultimately losing her heat. Zebrowski, a 15-year-old rookie, struggled against Erin Brooks, managing only a two-point total and unable to capitalize on her home advantage.
In contrast, local wildcard Kelia Gallina advanced after defeating former world champion Tyler Wright, marking her as the only local remaining in the women's draw. She will compete against Caroline Marks in the next round, while Kauli Vaast remains the last local male surfer after his victory over Eimeo Czermak.
