Loek Hartog Rescues Ollie Millroy from Burning Ferrari in Shanghai GT Race

In a dramatic incident during the opening China GT race in Shanghai, Loek Hartog rescued Ollie Millroy from his burning Ferrari following a major crash. The accident occurred approximately 20 minutes into the race when Neil Verhagen's BMW collided with David Chen's Ferrari, leading to Millroy's vehicle being struck and igniting.

Millroy sustained multiple injuries, including five broken ribs, a fractured collarbone, a broken hand and finger, and a bruised lung. Hartog, driving a Porsche, stopped his car, exited, and ran to Millroy's aid, using a fire extinguisher to combat the flames before successfully pulling him from the cockpit. The entire rescue took about 49 seconds.

After the incident, Millroy expressed gratitude to Hartog for his quick actions, stating that he owed his life to him. Meanwhile, AAI Motorsports, Millroy's team, criticized the emergency response, noting that he was left without immediate assistance for over a minute after the fire started. As a result, the team announced their withdrawal from the remainder of the China GT championship.
