London City Lionesses Secure Record Sponsorship Deal with Nike
The London City Lionesses have announced a new shirt sponsorship deal with Nike, which is claimed to be the largest in women's football, surpassing existing deals in the sport.
Michele Kang, the club's owner, confirmed that this deal exceeds the $4 million agreement for the upcoming National Women's Soccer League franchise in Atlanta, which is set to join in 2028. This sponsorship is noted to be higher than those of several Premier League teams and most Championship clubs.
This announcement follows a significant summer for the Lionesses, who have signed notable players including two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas and former England goalkeeper Mary Earps. Kang emphasized the belief in the future of women's football, stating that the sponsorship reflects a commitment to invest in the sport. The Lionesses are the only independent women's club in England's top flight and will host Manchester United in their season opener, with over 5,400 tickets sold.
