Long Lines for Student Football Wristbands at Penn State
On Friday, student football wristbands were distributed at the HUB from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., aimed at allowing students to bypass long lines at Gate A on game days. However, by the afternoon, the line extended from the HUB to Davey Lab, leading many to find the regular entry line faster than the designated 'fast pass' line.
Students reported waiting about 10 minutes to enter the stadium after spending considerable time in line for wristbands. The distribution was limited to the HUB this year, unlike last year when multiple locations were available, contributing to the long wait times. Only three colors of wristbands were distributed, with the white wristbands being the most sought after, causing confusion among students who were unaware of the differences.
Suggestions for improvement include increasing the number of staff distributing wristbands and enhancing communication about the different lines. Observations indicated that only a few security personnel were present to assist students, which may have exacerbated the situation. Despite the challenges, the staff involved were noted for their kindness and patience during the distribution process.
