The Los Angeles Lakers are changing ownership once again, with Josh Kushner and Bob Iger acquiring the franchise from Mark Walter for $12.5 billion. Walter had purchased the team just 14 months prior for $10 billion.

Kushner and Iger, both lifelong NBA fans, expressed their honor in taking over the iconic franchise and emphasized their commitment to building on the legacy established by the Buss family. Kushner previously held minority stakes in the Memphis Grizzlies and Miami Heat, while Iger is known for his leadership at Disney.

Under Walter's ownership, the Lakers have struggled to regain their championship form, winning only three playoff series since their last title in 2020. The team is now looking to Luka Dončić, who has taken over following LeBron James' departure, to lead them back into contention.
