Louis Oosthuizen Exits LIV Golf Amid League's Financial Struggles
Louis Oosthuizen, a former winner of the Open Championship, has announced his departure from LIV Golf, marking him as the latest notable player to leave the league.
The decision comes after LIV Golf filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September, following the withdrawal of financial support from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. Oosthuizen, who joined LIV Golf in 2022 and served as captain of the Southern Guards GC team, plans to return to the DP World Tour in 2027.
Oosthuizen expressed that this was one of the hardest decisions of his career, emphasizing the need for a more manageable playing schedule to maintain his competitive edge. He joins other players like Thomas Pieters and Sergio Garcia in leaving the league, as LIV Golf seeks to secure financing for its future.
