LPGA Commissioner Criticizes Good Good Golf's Callaway Ad Fallout
LPGA commissioner Craig Kessler has expressed strong disapproval of the backlash surrounding Good Good Golf's advertisement for a co-branded Callaway driver, labeling it as brutal and heartbreaking. The ad featured a scene where Good Good co-founder Garrett Clark pushed fellow creator Alexis Miestowski to the ground, which sparked widespread criticism for its portrayal of violence against women.
The controversial video was quickly taken down, with Good Good stating that it was meant to parody the horror film Obsession. In response to the incident, Callaway severed ties with Good Good and committed $1 million to organizations focused on preventing violence against women. Additionally, Good Good withdrew as the title sponsor of a PGA Tour event, leading to retailers removing its products and the Golf Channel canceling the 2026 season of its reality series Big Break x Good Good.
Kessler acknowledged the severity of the criticism but advocated for the importance of allowing individuals to recognize their mistakes and learn from them. He drew a comparison to his own experience of facing backlash earlier this year for canceling an LPGA event due to cold weather, for which he later apologized.
