Luca Marini Joins Tech3 KTM for 2027 and 2028 MotoGP Seasons
KTM's satellite team, Tech3, has officially signed Italian rider Luca Marini for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons. The announcement was made on Wednesday, confirming Marini's departure from Honda.
Marini's transition to Tech3 follows a series of discussions that began with an initial approach at the Italian GP. After impressing KTM and Tech3 management in a meeting with motorsport boss Pit Beirer, an agreement was reached. This marks a shift in Tech3's operations, as the team will now negotiate and sign its own riders, although they will still require approval from KTM.
Marini, who is the half-brother of Valentino Rossi and part of the VR46 Riders Academy, has a notable racing history, having entered the world championship in 2016. He has achieved significant success in Moto2 before moving to the premier class with Ducati's VR46 team and later joining Honda. Tech3 has yet to announce Marini's teammate for the upcoming season, although Australian rider Senna Agius is a strong candidate.
