Luis Arraez to Bat Cleanup for Phillies in Debut
Luis Arraez, recently acquired by the Philadelphia Phillies, is set to bat cleanup in his debut game at Citizens Bank Park. The three-time batting champion joined the team following a trade with the San Francisco Giants and will hit fourth in the lineup against the Nationals.
In the batting order, Kyle Schwarber will lead off, followed by Trea Turner in the second spot, and Bryce Harper batting third. Interim manager Don Mattingly indicated that the decision on the lineup was challenging but believes Arraez can effectively drive in runs despite not being a traditional power hitter.
Entering the game, Arraez boasts a .324 batting average, the highest in the National League, along with an .801 OPS. He emphasized his focus on making contact rather than altering his hitting style to fit a power-hitting mold.
