Luis Rengifo Suffers Torn ACL and MCL Injury
San Diego Padres infielder/outfielder Luis Rengifo has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and a sprained MCL in his right knee. He is currently consulting with medical staff regarding potential surgery and is anticipated to miss the remainder of the season.
The injury occurred during a game against the Tampa Bay Rays when Rengifo attempted to make a throw after fielding a ball. His right leg buckled, leading to him being carted off the field. Rengifo was already on the 10-day injured list and will be moved to the 60-day IL when necessary.
This injury is a setback for Rengifo, who had recently established himself as a regular player for the Padres after signing with the team following his release from the Brewers. He had a strong performance in July but struggled in August. The injury could significantly impact his availability for the upcoming season, as it affects multiple ligaments.
