Luka Modric to Extend International Career with Croatia
Luka Modric, the captain of the Croatian national football team, has announced that he will continue his international career at the age of 41. The Croatia Football Association confirmed that Modric plans to participate in the upcoming Nations League matches, including a fixture against England.
Modric, who has made 202 appearances for Croatia and scored 29 goals, was initially expected to retire after the recent World Cup, where Croatia was eliminated in the round of 32 by Portugal. His decision to continue comes alongside the return of Slaven Bilic as manager, who previously guided Modric early in his international career.
Bilic expressed his happiness regarding Modric's decision, emphasizing the midfielder's significant contributions to the team. Modric, currently playing for AC Milan, previously won the Golden Ball at the 2018 World Cup, where Croatia finished as runners-up. Croatia's next matches in the Nations League are scheduled against the Czech Republic on September 26 and Spain on September 29, followed by a home game against England on October 3.
