Luke Holman Shines as Top Pitcher in Arizona Fall League
Luke Holman, a 23-year-old right-handed pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization, has emerged as one of the standout pitchers in the Arizona Fall League. Competing for the Peoria Desert Dogs, he has allowed just one run over nine innings across three starts, striking out 15 batters while giving up only four hits and one walk.
In his latest outing against the Scottsdale Scorpions, which featured notable prospects, Holman delivered four scoreless innings on just 52 pitches. His performance has drawn attention from analysts, with Eric Longenhagen noting his effective glove-side command and a strong curveball. Holman, who was drafted 71st overall in 2024, has faced challenges in establishing a consistent routine due to previous injuries, including Tommy John surgery.
Despite these setbacks, Holman reported that his arm feels strong and his fastball velocity has improved. He has been working on refining his pitches, particularly his slider and splitter, while relying on his curveball as a key weapon. Holman aims to continue developing his skills as he gains more experience in the league.
