Ma'a Nonu Performs Solo Haka in Durban Before Sharks Match

Ma'a Nonu, a former star of the All Blacks, performed a solo haka in response to the All Blacks' traditional haka prior to his Sharks team's match in Durban.

The All Blacks secured a significant 54-0 victory during their tour of South Africa. Following their Ka Mate haka, Nonu stepped forward to perform Kapa o Pango, the alternative haka of the All Blacks, in front of his Sharks teammates.

At 44 years old, Nonu has a storied history with New Zealand rugby, having played 104 matches and contributed to the Rugby World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015. Recently joining the Sharks to mentor younger players, he was called to the bench due to injuries and Springbok selections. Nonu expressed his desire to honor his family and the All Blacks through his performance, which he discussed with the All Blacks' coaching staff beforehand. Sharks head coach JP Pietersen noted Nonu's positive influence on the team, despite his initial nerves about performing alone.
