Macklemore Removed from Ed Sheeran's Tour Following Controversial Comments
Rapper Macklemore has been removed from Ed Sheeran's stadium tour after making pro-Palestinian comments during a performance at MetLife Stadium on September 4. He claimed that venue owners, including New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, barred him from performing due to his remarks.
Kraft confirmed the ban, citing Macklemore's comments about Israel's actions in Gaza, which he described as genocide, and referenced a history of what he termed antisemitic rhetoric from the rapper. Macklemore's statements included calls to 'Free Palestine' and featured footage contrasting Israeli soldiers with Palestinian civilians.
The decision to remove Macklemore followed a petition from the Israeli American Council urging venues to pressure Sheeran to drop him. Messina Touring Group, the tour's promoter, stated that several venues would not allow concerts with Macklemore on the lineup, leading to his removal from the remaining tour dates.
