Madison Keys Suffers Upset Loss to Qinwen Zheng at US Open

Madison Keys faced a surprising defeat in the third round of the U.S. Open, losing to Qinwen Zheng in a match held on Saturday afternoon.

Initially, Keys, the No. 22 seed, seemed to be in control, winning the first set and leading 5-1 in the third. However, she dropped the second set in a tiebreaker and ultimately lost the match with a final score of 1-6, 7-6(3), 7-5. Despite having a match point, Keys struggled with unforced errors, resulting in her being broken three times in the final set.

Zheng, who is 23 years old, has previously been ranked as high as No. 4 in the world before undergoing elbow surgery in June 2025.
