Madring Circuit Receives Positive Feedback After Initial Formula 3 Test

Drivers in Formula 3 have commended Madrid's new racing circuit after a two-day rehearsal that featured 19 red flags and extensive operational assessments.

The testing at the 5.4-kilometre Madring focused on various aspects beyond the track surface, including medical services, recovery operations, and race control, all of which were evaluated ahead of the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix. The high number of red flags was primarily due to cars colliding with barriers, compounded by dust from ongoing construction and strong winds affecting grip.

Enthusiasm for the circuit layout was evident among drivers, with Freddie Slater noting its challenging nature reminiscent of traditional street circuits. The standout feature, La Monumental, is a 550-metre banked corner that has already posed challenges for car setups. While the FIA reported no major safety concerns, further work remains focused on the paddock and spectator areas, with the circuit's distinct character noted as a positive aspect.
