Makhachev Discusses Proposed Boxing Match with McGregor
Islam Makhachev has disclosed that Turki Alalshikh, a prominent figure in Saudi boxing, suggested a crossover boxing match between Makhachev and Conor McGregor to UFC CEO Dana White. This proposal was made during a recent boxing event where Alalshikh contacted McGregor directly.
Makhachev recounted that Alalshikh inquired if McGregor would be interested in boxing him, with White present at the time. Although the conversation was brief, Makhachev expressed his willingness to pursue the match. He also commented on McGregor's recent knee injury at UFC 329, indicating that it may have occurred prior to the fight.
Despite McGregor's challenging return to the octagon, Makhachev remains open to the idea of a boxing match, stating he feels capable of competing against other MMA fighters in a boxing setting. He is set to defend his lightweight title against Ian Garry at UFC 330 next month.
