Makhachev Prepares Differently for UFC 330 Fight Against Garry
Islam Makhachev, the UFC welterweight champion, has shared insights into his training for the upcoming fight against Ian Garry at UFC 330, scheduled for August 15. He noted that this preparation is significantly different from his previous camp, which preceded his title win against Jack Della Maddalena.
In his first welterweight camp, Makhachev concentrated on gaining weight through a rigorous lifting regimen. However, he now feels more at ease in the division, stating that his body has naturally adjusted to the weight class. He plans to maintain his current weight and aims for a decisive finish against Garry, having identified weaknesses in the Irish fighter's grappling.
Makhachev's initial welterweight fight focused on securing the title rather than finishing his opponent, but he intends to adopt a more aggressive strategy this time. He believes that once the fight goes to the ground, he can exploit Garry's vulnerabilities, despite acknowledging the challenger's striking skills as a significant threat.
