Makhachev Successfully Defends Welterweight Title at UFC 330

Islam Makhachev defended his UFC welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330, held on Saturday at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Makhachev won the match by unanimous decision, marking his first title defense.

This bout proved to be more challenging for Makhachev compared to his previous title win at UFC 322, where he easily defeated Jack Della Maddalena. In this fight, Garry put up a strong resistance, making it difficult for Makhachev to secure takedowns and landing significant strikes. However, a powerful head kick from Makhachev in the second round left Garry unable to recover.

With this victory, Makhachev extended his win streak to 17, setting a new UFC record. Following this defense, he is expected to face either Michael Morales or Carlos Prates in his next match. In the co-main event, Mackenzie Dern successfully defended her women’s strawweight title against Gillian Robertson by unanimous decision.
