Malaysian GP Starting Grid Revealed After Jorge Martin's Withdrawal
The starting grid for the Malaysian Grand Prix, the 19th round of the 2026 MotoGP season, has been finalized. Alex Marquez will begin the race from pole position after achieving the fastest time during Saturday's qualifying session.
Marquez, riding for Gresini, aims for consecutive victories at Sepang after winning the previous year's event. He will be joined on the front row by his brother, Marc Marquez, who leads the championship by 19 points. Jorge Martin, a key title contender, had to withdraw from the race weekend before qualifying and has returned home for treatment, hoping to compete in the upcoming Qatar GP.
Completing the front row is KTM's Pedro Acosta, who recently claimed his second career sprint win at Sepang. The second row features Ai Ogura, Marco Bezzecchi, and Fabio di Giannantonio. Enea Bastianini, Johann Zarco, Franco Morbidelli, and Francesco Bagnaia will start from seventh to tenth positions. The race will see only 20 riders participating, as Raul Fernandez also withdrew due to injury, joining Martin on the sidelines. Fermin Aldeguer and Toprak Razgatlioglu are absent as well, with their teams fielding replacement riders.
