Malik Beasley to Plead Guilty to Gambling Charges
Malik Beasley, a former NBA player, has reached an agreement to plead guilty to gambling charges, as reported on Tuesday.
The plea is set to occur in Brooklyn on December 9, following an investigation by the United States Department of Justice. Beasley, who is 29 years old, was one of six individuals indicted in June as part of a broader sports gambling scheme and had initially pleaded not guilty.
He faced accusations of attempting to manipulate his performance in at least four games while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024. Beasley will be the second NBA player in recent years to plead guilty to gambling-related offenses, following Jontay Porter, who admitted guilt in a different gambling scheme in 2024 and has been permanently banned from the NBA.
