Malik Willis Reflects on Matt LaFleur's Impact as He Joins Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins have signed Malik Willis as their new quarterback, taking a calculated risk on the former third-round pick who previously struggled with the Tennessee Titans. After being traded to the Green Bay Packers, Willis served as a backup to Jordan Love for two seasons, where he gained valuable experience under head coach Matt LaFleur.

During his time with the Packers, Willis played in 11 games, starting three, and achieved a completion rate of 78.7%, throwing for 972 yards and six touchdowns without any interceptions. He also contributed on the ground with 261 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Following his release from the Packers, the Dolphins secured Willis with a three-year, $67.5 million contract.

Willis attributes much of his development to LaFleur, highlighting lessons on accountability and the importance of making the right decisions rather than always attempting big plays. He believes that the culture he experienced in Green Bay will be beneficial in Miami, especially with the Dolphins' new head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, both of whom have ties to the Packers' successful organization.
