Man Dies While Bodysurfing at Crescent Bay, Laguna Beach

A 41-year-old man died while bodysurfing at Crescent Bay in Laguna Beach on August 26, following a rescue operation. The area is currently experiencing dangerous surf conditions due to Tropical Storm Iselle.

The City of Laguna Beach reported that the rescue took place around 4:20 p.m. Lifeguards brought the man to shore, where CPR was administered before he was transported to Mission Hospital Laguna Beach. His identity has not been released.

Witnesses indicated that they saw the man in distress and attempted to assist him alongside lifeguards. He was reportedly unconscious and in cardiac arrest when rescued. A second man was also saved during the incident. Lifeguards had issued warnings with red flags to advise inexperienced swimmers to avoid the water. This incident adds to a troubling summer of heavy surf-related fatalities in the area.
