Man Found Dead at Dockweiler Beach Amid Tropical Storm Rachel
A man was found dead at Dockweiler Beach in Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles, on Sunday morning, amid elevated surf conditions linked to Tropical Storm Rachel.
The incident took place near Tower 42 in the 6900 block of Pacific Avenue, where two bystanders noticed the man behaving erratically, alternating between swimming and being on land. Lifeguards responded quickly and performed CPR for 20 minutes using a Lucas device, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the storm has led to multiple beach closures in Southern California, including The Wedge, the exact cause of death remains unclear. Lifeguard specialist Jake Miller noted that the man was dressed in ragged clothing and lacked a bathing suit, suggesting he may have been unhoused.
