Manchester City Initiates Talks with Chelsea for Enzo Fernandez
Manchester City has started direct negotiations with Chelsea to acquire midfielder Enzo Fernandez, as reported by Sky in Italy. Fernandez, who transferred to Chelsea from Benfica for £107 million in 2023, participated in Chelsea's opening Premier League match against Fulham but was absent in subsequent matches against Luton and Brighton.
Chelsea is reportedly open to selling Fernandez for the right price, especially if they can enhance their squad before the transfer window closes. Despite missing the August 14 deadline for a bid, Manchester City's interest in the player persists.
City's need for a central midfielder has intensified following the departures of Rodri to Barcelona and other key players. Recently, City secured Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille for £86 million, marking a record deal for a teenager, while also signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116 million.
