Manchester City Signs Defender Carlotta Wamser on Four-Year Deal
Manchester City has finalized the acquisition of full-back Carlotta Wamser from Bayer Leverkusen on a four-year contract. The 22-year-old German international, who is capable of playing both left-back and right-back, previously joined Leverkusen from Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2025.
Wamser becomes City's third signing this summer, following defender Niamh Charles from Chelsea and forward Beth Mead from Arsenal. With several players, including Charles, Grace Clinton, Vivianne Miedema, Jade Rose, and Laura Wienroither, sidelined due to injuries, Wamser's addition is seen as a significant boost for the Women's Super League champions as they prepare to defend their title against Birmingham City.
Having earned 14 international caps and participated in the successful Under-17 European Championship team in 2019, Wamser expressed her enthusiasm for joining Manchester City, citing the club's reputation and her desire for career development. City’s director of football, Therese Sjogran, remarked on the club's excitement about Wamser's potential and commitment to the team's future.
