Manchester United Fans Display Ticker Banner Mocking Manchester City
Manchester United fans showcased a ticker banner at Old Trafford on Saturday, highlighting 50 years since Manchester City last secured a trophy. This event coincided with United's first match following the announcement that City had been found guilty of serious breaches of Premier League financial regulations.
The banner, which originally debuted in 2000, counted the years since City's last trophy win in 1976 until they broke their drought in 2011. Following the recent ruling against City, United fans displayed a new version of the banner during the match against Tottenham.
This display comes as City faces scrutiny for financial misconduct, specifically concerning the period from the 2009/10 to 2017/18 seasons. City has denied any wrongdoing and plans to appeal the commission's findings. Meanwhile, United fans also displayed a banner referencing Rui Pinto, a convicted hacker linked to the financial allegations against City.
