Manchester United Signs Carlos Baleba from Brighton
Manchester United has officially signed midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton in a transfer deal valued at up to £70 million. The 22-year-old Cameroon international has agreed to a five-year contract with the option for an additional year.
Baleba's transfer concludes a lengthy pursuit by United, which began last autumn. The deal includes a guaranteed fee of £65 million, with an additional £5 million in potential add-ons. Although currently sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained during pre-season, he is expected to return by mid-September, ahead of a match against Manchester City.
Having joined Brighton from Lille in 2023, Baleba made 112 appearances for the club and was a key player last season. His arrival at Old Trafford marks United's third midfield signing this summer, following Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. Baleba expressed his excitement about joining the club and working with coach Michael Carrick.
