Manikanta Hoblidhar Wins 100m at National Open Athletics Championships
Manikanta Hoblidhar returned to competitive athletics with a victory in the 100m event at the 65th National Open Athletics Championships held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
The 24-year-old sprinter clocked a time of 10.25 seconds to secure first place, marking a significant comeback after a hamstring injury and a blood clot sidelined him earlier this year. Hoblidhar expressed disappointment over his performance, citing an upset stomach and a cautious approach following his long break from competition. He aims to improve his timing to 10.00 seconds in the upcoming season.
In the same event, Lalu Prasad Bhoi finished second with a time of 10.43 seconds, while Laukik Melge took third place at 10.45 seconds. The championships also featured notable performances from other athletes, including Manpreet Kaur, who won the women's shot put with a throw of 17.07 meters.
