ManningCast Viewership Declines to 517,000 as Next Gen Stats Broadcast Gains Popularity
The ManningCast, an alternative broadcast featuring Peyton and Eli Manning, has seen a significant drop in viewership, attracting only 517,000 viewers during the Week 7 game between the Cowboys and Eagles.
Previously, the show regularly garnered over a million viewers per episode. However, the introduction of a strengthened primary broadcast with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman has contributed to this decline. In contrast, the new Next Gen Stats broadcast on NFL Network drew 499,000 viewers, surpassing the previous week's audience for the Commanders-49ers game.
Viewership trends indicate that ESPN's alternative broadcasts do not attract new viewers but rather draw from the main broadcast audience. As a result, the sustainability of the ESPN2 alt casts is in question, leading to speculation that integrating the Next Gen Stats version into ESPN2 could be a viable solution for future broadcasts.
