Marc-Andre ter Stegen Joins Ajax on Loan from Barcelona
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been loaned to Ajax for the upcoming season, as announced by the Dutch club on Tuesday.
Since joining Barcelona in 2014, Ter Stegen has made 423 appearances and secured seven La Liga titles along with a Champions League trophy. His contract with Barcelona extends until 2028. Ajax's technical director, Jordi Cruijff, expressed enthusiasm about Ter Stegen's addition, highlighting their previous working relationship.
Prior to this move, Ter Stegen had a brief loan spell at Girona, where he played two matches. He is currently sidelined from the German national team due to a hamstring injury, which will prevent him from participating in the 2026 World Cup. Ajax finished fifth in the Eredivisie last season and will begin their new campaign against PEC Zwolle on Sunday.
