Marc Marquez Discusses Energy Management Strategy in MotoGP
Marc Marquez recently elaborated on his seemingly indifferent expressions during podium appearances, which he attributes to a strategy aimed at managing his energy levels throughout race weekends.
After finishing second in the sprint in Austria, Marquez's serious demeanor raised questions, especially following his seventh sprint win in Japan, where he celebrated minimally. He clarified that his lack of visible emotion is intentional, allowing him to conserve energy for the main race on Sundays, when the most points are available.
Marquez explained that during the first half of the season, he often felt exhausted by Sunday, primarily due to the lingering effects of a shoulder injury sustained in a crash last year. Although he underwent surgery to alleviate issues with his arm, the physical demands of racing, combined with the mental strain of injury recovery, led him to adopt a more serious approach to energy management. He believes that focusing on his physical condition and minimizing distractions has improved his performance.
