Marco Wittmann Claims Victory at DTM Nurburgring Amidst AMG Challenges

Marco Wittmann of Schubert-BMW emerged victorious in the second DTM race at the Nurburgring, capitalizing on mistakes made by competitors. Starting from sixth position, Wittmann navigated the race strategically, achieving his third win in the series.

Mercedes-AMG faced difficulties, with Maro Engel colliding with Lucas Auer early in the race, leading to their retirements. Polesitter Jules Gounon finished 14th after receiving a penalty, while Tom Kalender managed to secure second place, marking his first podium finish in the DTM. Thomas Preining from Manthey-Porsche completed the podium in third.

The race featured multiple incidents, including a safety car deployment due to a collision involving Gounon and a pit stop infringement that cost him the lead. With only four races remaining in the season, the competition remains tight, with Engel still leading the overall standings but closely followed by Preining.
