Marco Wittmann Expresses Frustration Over DTM Title Opportunity
Marco Wittmann, a contender for the DTM title with Schubert-BMW, expressed his frustration over the Balance of Performance (BoP) after qualifying 16th and finishing seventh in the decisive race at Hockenheim.
During the race, Wittmann noted that he had hoped for a competitive three-way battle for the title but felt that circumstances prevented this from happening. He criticized the BoP adjustments, stating that only minor changes were made, which did not reflect the performance gap observed during the previous race.
BMW's motorsport chief, Andreas Roos, acknowledged the team's disappointing qualifying performance, attributing it to predictable outcomes based on previous lap times. Wittmann's efforts to advance from 16th to seventh were hampered by competitive challenges, ultimately leaving him with a 27-point deficit in the overall standings.
